About

Hello, my name is Val Chaney, otherwise known as Velcrofridge.I make silly things! I am primarily a 2D character animator, however I am also a script writer, animatic/storyboard artist and overall 2D generalist. I have been studying animation for over 5 years and have directed 4 full short films to date. I currently do freelance work around my studies, including but not limited to: murals, paintings, drawing commissions and short animations. After graduating I would like to work in industry full time. I’d like to specialise in short films and TV but I tend to consider myself an all rounder. You can check out more of my portfolio here.

I am currently studying a BA (Hons) degree in animation at Leeds Arts University. I currently have an Extended Diploma in animation from Leeds City College.I am trained in multiple creative softwares such as ToonBoom Harmony, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, ProCreate and ToonSquid.My work has been exhibited in several places over the years:-Leeds Arts University: ‘180 Years’ Exhibition (April 2026)-
